About the Program

1 – Establishment

The Program will commence education and training in the 2020–2021 academic year.

2 – Awarded Degree

Students who successfully complete the program are awarded an Associate Degree and are entitled to use the professional titles Beauty Specialist, Hairdresser, and Esthetician.

3 – Level of the Degree

The Hair Care and Beauty Services Program is an associate degree program designed to provide Level 5 vocational qualifications in accordance with the Bologna Process and the framework established by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).

4 – Admission and Registration Requirements

Students are admitted to the Hair Care and Beauty Services Program based on their TYT (Basic Proficiency Test) score obtained in the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).

5 – Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Informal, Non-Formal)

Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University adopts the principle of lifelong learning. Previously completed courses at another higher education institution may be recognized provided that they comply with the curriculum and course contents of the program, in accordance with the provisions of the regulation entitled “Regulation on the Principles Regarding Transfers Between Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, Minor, and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfer in Higher Education Institutions” issued by the Council of Higher Education.

In addition, exemption examinations are held at the beginning of each academic semester for the Computer and English courses included in the educational plans of the programs. Students who take these examinations and achieve the required level of success are exempted from the relevant courses.

6 – Graduation Requirements

In order to graduate from the Hair Care and Beauty Services Program, students are required to:

  • Have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00;
  • Successfully complete all compulsory courses included in the education and training program;
  • Successfully complete all other academic requirements specified by the program;
  • Complete a total workload of 120 ECTS credits;
  • Have their graduation approved by the relevant administrative board.

7 – Program Profile

The program consists of compulsory courses, university elective courses, and free elective courses. Students are required to take midterm and final examinations and fulfill attendance requirements for all courses. In some courses, research assignments and/or oral presentations are also required.

At least one midterm examination is administered during each semester. Final examinations are conducted according to the schedule announced by the University. The final achievement grade is determined by instructors by taking into consideration the student's final examination score, midterm examination scores, attendance throughout the semester, and other course-related assignments.

Students' performance levels are determined based on their semester grade point average and cumulative grade point average. The credit points earned by a student for a course are calculated by multiplying the credit hours of the course by the value of the final letter grade. For repeated courses, the most recent grade is taken into account. All grades are recorded on the student's transcript.

8 – Employment Profiles of Graduates

Graduates of the program may work as Hairdressers, Beauty Specialists, or Makeup Artists in hairdressing salons, beauty centers, backstage areas, and makeup studios.

They may also work in:

  • Women's and men's hairdressing salons;
  • Beauty salons and beauty centers;
  • Massage salons and centers;
  • Thermal baths and bathing facilities;
  • Thermal hotels;
  • SPA, thalassotherapy, and personal care centers;
  • Sports centers and fitness facilities;
  • Television channels;
  • Theaters;
  • Cinema studios;
  • Cosmetic retail outlets;
  • Cosmetic manufacturing companies;
  • Hairdressing and beauty salons within public institutions and organizations;
  • Other relevant institutions and establishments in the beauty and personal care sector.

9 – Progression to Higher Degree Programs

Graduates of the Hair Care and Beauty Services Program at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Health Services Vocational School may transfer to the Department of Chemistry through the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS).

10 – Examinations, Assessment and Evaluation

All examinations, assessment, and evaluation procedures are conducted in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations.

11 – Mode of Education (Full-Time, E-Learning)

The Hair Care and Beauty Services Program at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Health Services Vocational School provides full-time, formal, face-to-face education.

12 – Program Facilities

The Department of Hair Care and Beauty Services at Tokat Health Services Vocational School is working to establish and develop the necessary facilities, including workshops and salons, equipped with technological devices and equipment. These facilities are intended to provide students with a well-equipped and professionally oriented educational environment throughout their four semesters, supported by qualified academic staff in the field.
